Field Horsetail Medicinal Weed

A Wanted Weed
A deep-rooted, herbaceous weed, with tough, light-brown or green shoots that resemble pine needles.
Field Horsetail dies back completely in winter.
Find it on undisturbed ground, cracks in paving, walls, waste ground.
It is toxic to Horses, Cattle Sheep and other livestock. With deep roots you need to dig deep to eradicate it.
But before you throw it away or compost it consider hanging it to dry out.
Field Horsetail can be useful for giving relief to various conditions!
To ease diarrhoea, cystitis and stomach ulcers put 30g of dried plant in 500ml of cold water, leave for 3 to 4 hours then put it on the stove and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
Remove it from the heat and let it infuse for another 10 minutes.
Drink one cup before eating 3 times a day.

To sooth Eczema and Acne put 60g of dried plant in 250ml of water, leave it to steep for 3 or 4 hours, then heat it up and leave to simmer for 20 minutes, remove from heat and let it infuse for another 10 minutes then use directly on the skin as a soothing lotion, apply a few times a day.
Use This Weed To Treat Your Plants

This weed is also an excellent fungicide and can treat your plants.
If you notice black spot on your roses, mix up the following.
Let 50g of fresh horsetail macerate in 1L of water for 24 hours, then boil for 15 to 20 minutes and let cool.
Filter to remove the leaves
Add 250 ml of the concentrate to 100ml of water and spray every 2 weeks on plants subject to disease, such as vegetables, phlox, bee balm and roses.
This treatment will not necessarily cure the disease but it does help slow it significantly and is so much better than using harsh chemicals.
